Nurses Obtain Certifications

Two nurses on staff with Hospice of South Georgia have recently obtained National Board Certification for the credential of Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse (CHPN). Renee Hunter, RN, and Mae Banks, LPN, both demonstrated knowledge and skills related to the specific needs of patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses. A focus on pain and symptom management is a key area of expertise gained through the studies to earn this certification.  Both nurses work at the Langdale Hospice House, which is Hospice of South Georgia’s own inpatient care center. “We are very proud of the fact that these nurses pursued this distinction on their own”, commented Susan Bowden, RN, Acting Executive Director of Hospice of South Georgia. “It adds to the level of commitment our staff and volunteers have for meeting the unique needs of each of the patients and families we serve.”
