The Doug Henderson III Memorial Fund was established in honor of Doug Henderson III, who, in 2002, was diagnosed with synovi
al sarcoma, a rare form of soft tissue cancer. After a valiant fight against the disease, Doug passed away on September 6, 2003.

Doug approached his battle with cancer with the same determination and zealousness that he approached life and its everyday challenges and opportunities. He gave 100% to his fight, just as he did with his education, his career and his relationships with family and friends. Rather than allowing their struggle against cancer to end, the family and friends of Doug have made a commitment to make a difference in the fight against this disease. In April of 2004, a charitable fund in Doug’s name was established to support various charities, including the Langdale Hospice House, LAMP, Habitat for Humanity, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Boys & Girls Club, Birthright, South Georgia House of Hope, and The Lowndes County Partnership for Cancer Fund and Partnership for Health Fund. It has provided more than 125 scholarships to young people in our community. To date, the Fund has contributed over $300,000.00 to area organizations and individuals.

Doug’s family and friends are pleased to hold the 11th Annual Doug Henderson III Memorial Golf Tournament event to be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the VCC. We invite you to participate in this year’s event as we honor a very special person and build a beneficial foundation that will make a difference in the lives of others. We appreciate your interest and support.
